My Favourite Scores and Songs

I have had a penchant for music film scores for many years from the first time I heard Ron Goodwin's Where Eagles Dare through to Jerry Goldsmith's Star Trek and the unforgettable Star Wars by John Williams which I have had on vinyl in one way or another for 40 years now.

Add onto this the sudden insurgent of songs in films and composers going back to basics and producing truly memorable scores, then we are in for a good time. For me, this is most noticeable in television, where film composers are composing strong and melodic themes and haunting tunes for commonplace TV programmes.

Take for example, David Arnold. He has composed for Roland Emmerich's blockbusters Stargate and Independence Day. He then took over from John Barry as the true genius behind Bond, and his On Her Majesty's Secret Service theme with The Propellerheads remains one of the greatest tribute tracks ever. He has since moved onto the likes of Sherlock and Jekyll & Hyde. 2 very strong series indeed.

I will add links to my favourite Youtube videos and hope you find something here that you enjoy and I will add more tracks as I remember them ...
